Chris Rock Heads To Beverley Hills
To write, produce and star in The Gilmores of Beverley Hills

The Oscar host-with-the-most, Chris Rock, clearly enjoyed his evening hanging out with Hollywood's finest. Not only did he get a really fabulous goodie bay for his efforts on Oscar night, but he clearly enjoyed dressing up for the occasion. So much so, that he is sticking with a tuxedo for his next role, which will see him play a limo driver in The Gilmores of Beverley Hills.

The multi-talented Rock also co-wrote the script, with his long-term writing partner Al LeRoi (who has appeared as a "crazy hostile dreadlock guy" in two of Rock's previous films, Down To Earth and Head Of State). And as if that weren't enough, he's also co-producing. While juggling kittens and balancing a badger on his head.

Not to be confused with the Hillbillies of the same location, the film's plot is still under wraps. However, it is supposed to be similar in some ways to The Slums of Beverley Hills, a 1998 comedy about a dysfunctional family living in the Hills in the 70s. This isn't a remake, however, so expect some similarities rather than wholesale borrowing.

There's no director attached yet, but with shooting due to start in the autumn, expect one to be announced reasonably soon. With Rock currently riding high in the box office charts, both as a voice in animated film Madagascar and in prison football remake The Longest Yard (opposite Adam Sandler, who's producing this film), he should have his pick of directors.
