Kevin James Set For Monster Turn
In new kids comedy Monster Hunter

You may know him as the star of TV's King of Queens, but after stealing the show as Will Smith's hapless romantic client in Hitch, Kevin James is gearing up to take on Hollywood. And the latest role that he's added to his collection is Monster Hunter, which reunites James with some of his Hitch collaborators.

In the film, James will play a child psychologist with a unique ability – he can see the monsters under the bed that frighten children. He uses this skill to vanquish the beasties, scaring them out of closets and out from under beds, until he comes up against a particularly nasty monster who will test him to the limit.

The film, you may not be surprised to learn, was written by two of the writers of Monsters Inc., Robert L. Baird and Daniel Gerson. There's no word on a director as yet, but Will Smith and James Lassiter's Overbrook Entertainment will be producing the film, marking a reunion of sorts for the Hitch stars.

In the meantime, James has a whole heap of films on his schedule. First up is Grilled, where he and fellow TV star Ray Romano play competing meat salesmen; then there's a voice role as a policeman in the animated Monster House and one as a cow called Otis in The Barnyard; then he plays a substitute teacher taking an unruly class on a Field Trip and finally there's Man In Uniform, where he plays an Ordinary Joe who finds that his life improves vastly when he finds a policeman's uniform. With King of Queens currently shooting its eighth and final series, it doesn't look like we've seen the last of Kevin James.
