Guardians Of The Galaxy Launches Viral Travel Site
Head off to Knowhere & more...

“Hawaii. Tahiti. The Bahamas. Some of the most beautiful destinations on Earth… look like shit compared to the rest of the galaxy.” It’s an unusual way to open the viral site for a film, but then Galaxy Getaways, which ties into that bunch of a-holes from Guardians Of The Galaxy, is no ordinary movie site. Head here to have a look.

For a start, this is not a particularly stealthy 'viral' site, but it does have the vibrant, cheeky feel the movie has given off in its trailers so far. There are no ‘70s jams from the soundtrack to be found, but it’s a clever way to introduce people to the various destinations that Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and co. will be visiting.

Sprinkled among the descriptions of places such as Knowhere (carved into the long-dead skull of a massive, ancient creature) and Xandar, home to the Nova Corps (and Gluborg’s, the first restaurant in the galaxy to score five stars), are a wealth of in-jokes and little bits of information about the movie that will hopefully enhance rather than spoil the experience.

Guardians Of The Galaxy, lest you forget, lands in the UK on July 31 and the US on August 1. For more on the movie, check out the current issue of Empire, available at newsagents across the galaxy (though it’s sold out everywhere but Earth, thanks to The Collector, who should be renamed The Hoarder) and in digital form.
