First Teaser Poster For Bananaman
The peel good hit of the summer?

Into an already crowded 2015 superhero landscape will storm / fly / be-delivered-in-a-crate none other than Bananaman, the vintage children's TV crusader. He's the latest kids-telly-to-big-screen transfer and has a new teaser poster to flaunt the fact, courtesy of production house Elstree Studio. Click on the image for a closer look.

Created by John Geering 35 years ago, the man-of-peel has had a home in both The Beano and The Dandy. He is, of course, ordinary schoolboy Eric Wimp who, in a fond pastiche of Marvel heroes, is transformed into a yellow-clad, flying, super-strong ("twenty men... twenty big men") ubermensch by the merest nibble of the yellow, bendy stuff.

Details of the movie are still under wraps, despite the presence of a website, but will hopefully be less under-wraps soon. There's no word from the studio on director, voice cast or story line, but possible villains for our yellow hero include such scoundrels as General Blight, Doctor Gloom, Mouseman and the nefarious Auntie, wielder of a terrifying knitting ball launcher. Watch this space.

RE: Goodies
Why there is no new name in the movies, they refer to characters back than and from old news or comics More

Goodies
I am going to guess that they will be no cameos from Garden, Brooke-Taylor or Oddie. I loved this as a kid and the 7 year old that lives within is sooooo excited.... More

Bananaman Origins
Just to be slightly pedantic - Bananaman originally appeared in 'NUTTY' Comic in 1980 before going over to Dandy and Beano. I only know cos i was a big Nutty fan. Didn't like Beano and Dandy though, so was bitterly disappointed when he buggered off over to them... More

I could have sworn this was an April Fools joke... Seriously.. Banana Man.. it just wasn't that good. It was low rated, lasted all of 40 short episodes, and hasn't been on tv again since it finished pretty much.... More

Bananaman was rubbish when I was a kid so I'm not sure why they're bothering! I realise that nostalgia often sells but only nostalgia for something that was good in the first place, surely? What next, a 3D £100m+ budget version of "Jamie and His Magic Torch"? Actually, not a bad idea! More

Please tell me this is a joke. What's next? Superted? Will o' the wisp?? Jimbo and the Jet Set? Oh no they already did that and called it "Planes". Nothing is sacred to these people... More

Live action?
The article mentions Voice actors? The announcement was for a live action film. So is it now an animated film? More
