You might recall that last month, we brought you an exclusive new image from the Horrible Histories/Yonderland team’s big-screen shot at William Shakespeare’s unexplored early years, Bill. Fresh news arrives today, via Screen International, that Damian Lewis is part of the cast.

Exactly whom the Homeland man is playing remains a closely guarded secret, and he’s only a guest star alongside the core ensemble of Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond, who will, as fans might expect, pop up in multiple guises.

Bill finds Shakespeare looking to find some direction in his life. After a frustrating stint trying to make it as a lute player, he leaves his family behind and decides to follow his dream… If only he can figure out what that truly is.

"There's this period where no-one is entirely sure what Shakespeare did," co-writer Rickard told Empire. "And it gives you great licence to play around. He's done everything from contemporary dance to playing lute in a band. He's never found his calling..."

We all – well, except Roland Emmerich – know how that turned out. Bill is being touted at Cannes now and according to this ancient scroll we discovered, it hits UK screens on February 20, 2015.
