Big New X-Men Days Of Future Past Trailer Lands
'This is gonna be fun...'

What is being advertised as the “final” trailer for X-Men: Days Of Future Past was screened last night on American TV and has arrived nearly simultaneously online. While we’re not 100 per cent convinced it’ll be the absolute last promo (the film doesn’t hit cinemas until next month), it certainly delivers on the scale and the story. One word of caution: there are a lot of fun things to see here, but also parts of the movie you may wish to wait to save for the big screen. 

As you may know by know, Days Of Future Past opens in a dark future world where the Sentinels, originally created by Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage) in the 1970s to stamp out the perceived mutant threat, have effectively laid waste to much of the globe. With mutants facing extinction, Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen) and others hatch a desperate plan. Using Kitty Pryde's (Ellen Page) powers, they’re going to send Wolverine's (Hugh Jackman) consciousness back through time to find the younger versions of the X-Men and stop the threat at its source.

But that won’t be such an easy task, as 1973’s Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) is a haunted, bitter shell of a man, consumed by the betrayal of Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and frustrated at the failure of his school for mutants. Can Wolverine convince him to unite friends and foes to face the ultimate challenge? He’s going to give it a damn good try, even if he has to kick everyone’s arse.

With Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Shawn Ashmore, Daniel Cudmore, Adan Canto, Booboo Stewart, Omar Sy and more in the sprawling cast and Singer back directing for the first time since X2, Days Of Future Past is out on May 22.

I recall DOFP from 1983 or so when it was printed (with bad colour alignment) in the pages of Marvel UK's Mighty World Of Marvel. A seminal Marvel story if ever there was one. At one point I hoped that a third X-Men movie in 1999 or so would do the Sentinels justice. Fast-forward to 2013 and I'm prepared for this movie to be a colossal embarrassment. Now, to be frank, this trailer has me stoked. Looks like the movie might just have that certain Je Ne Sais Quoi about it. More

Still Not That Interested...For Two Reasons
1. Wolverine is the central character...AGAIN!!! I'm sorry, but he has become the MOST overused character in comic-book movies. They should just call this movie WOLVERINE: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST guest starring THE X-MEN! 2. Bryan Singer hasn't made a great film since X-MEN 2 (2003). His last three films - SUPERMAN RETURNS (2006), VALKYRIE (2008) and JACK THE GIANT-SLAYER (2013) were all disappointments. More
