For the new Fantastic Four

Toby-Kebbell-Will-Be-Doctor-Doom

Last month, word arrived that 20th Century Fox was zeroing in on the likely candidate to play Victor Von Doom, the man who will be the primary nemesis for the new heroes in Josh Trank’s fresh take on the Fantastic Four comics. According to Variety we have a winner, in the shape of Toby Kebbell.

With Trank set to kick off shooting soon, the casting has been falling into place quickly. Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell are aboard as the four heroes Reed “Mr. Fantastic” Richards, Sue “Invisible Girl” Storm, Johnny “Human Torch” Storm and Ben “The Thing” Grimm.”

Kebbell had reportedly been up against Domhnall Gleeson, Sam Riley and Eddie Redmayne for the role of Doctor Doom the masked villain hailing from the fictional nation of Latveria. He’s certainly on Fox’s radar thanks to a role in Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, and has been at work on Warcraft for director Duncan Jones.

While Variety’s story cautions that no deal is in place yet, it would appear to be a matter of hammering out the final details. Assuming everything is figured out, Kebbell and co will be on screens from June 18 next year.

To be fair, the only origin stories we can do without are Batman, Superman and Spider-Man, although I didn't mind the one for The Amazing Spider-Man. More

Sounds like another origin story...
Do we really need yet another origin story ? Granted, it's a reboot, and perhaps not everyone is aware of the back story behind the characters, but the problem with these hero films is that with the bulk of the plot about origins, there's very little time left to cover the inevitable challenge / battle / nemesis story. Skip the origin stuff, and reclaim a good hour of the film for the main story. You can have a quick voiceover at the beginning of the film explaining how they got their powers. More

Chronicle 2?
Sounds like it's going to be the sequel to Chronicle to me and those characters annoyed the living daylights out of me. More

Silblings.?
I have one small question with regards to the relationships between the characters.... isn't The Invisible Girl (Sue Storm) the sister of The Human Torch (Johnny Storm)? ,,, and are the actors that have been cast as these 2 characters have..... errm ....... different racial backgrounds? ie She is white and he is African American?
