New Postman Pat Trailer Lands
Return to sender

There’s a new trailer for Postman Pat: The Movie and it’s not exactly putting our initial fears for the project to rest. Gone are the charmingly rambling antics of Greendale’s elite sackman, replaced instead with more of the same soulless CG sheen of a true animonstrosity. Throw in another cameo from ‘Simon Cowbell’ and our eyes are on the verge of getting their coat and going home, never to return.

A cornucopia of pop culture clichés and painful in-jokes this may be, but it’s also basically Inception for Empire’s five year-old godson. The prospect of an army of robo-Pats being unleashed, Yul Brynner-like, on Greendale should keep the wee’uns delighted.

The plot, as you can glean, involves Pat abandoning the concerns of next day delivery and postal sorting in favour of a talent contest and the celebrity and fortune that follows. “Pat falls for the age-old temptation of the grass being greener,” runs the synopsis.

All this hero worship prompts Pat to deliver the Seagel-ish line, “I’m just an ordinary postman.” Could this be the prelude to a whole world of martial arts and knife work as terrorists take Greendale? Probably not, although there may well be a bit with a cake.

Find out when Postman Pat: The Movie is released in the UK on May 23, boasting the vocal talents of Rupert Grint, David Tennant and Jim Broadbent.
