Meryl Streep Attached To Ricky And The Flash

Some film packages come bearing one or two high-profile elements, be it an award-winning actor with buzz, a script by an established writer or a proven director. Ricky And The Flash promises all three, with Meryl Streep on board to star in a Diablo Cody script directed by Jonathan Demme. Start revving your Oscar engines now, right?

Ricky finds Streep as a woman who abandoned her family in her younger days to pursue a life of fame and fortune as a rock star. But once her career quietens in her later years, she decides to track down her family and try to be a mother to her estranged children. Attempting to reunite with her spawn, she discovers the emotional wreckage her decision wrought, including one of her kids going through a divorce.

Producer Marc Platt, who collaborated with Demme on Rachel Getting Married, is one of the producers dangling the project out to studios like someone teasing a kitten with a length of string. Expect this one to be snapped up sharpish.
