Ellen Page In Talks To Be John Belushi’s Wife
In the new biopic with Emile Hirsch

Ellen Page In Talks To Be John Belushi's Wife

There's a double dose of Ellen Page news today, which we'll kick off with word that she's in talks to play Judith Jacklin opposite Emile Hirsch as John Belushi in the biopic of the former Saturday Night Live man, his excessive life and tragically early death.

A film about Belushi's life has been in the works for years, passing through different writers, directors and potential stars before ending up (we assume) with The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty writer Steve Conrad re-working the script and calling the shots and Hirsch making a deal to play the Animal House/Blues Brothers star.

Page is negotiating to take on Jacklin, who was Belushi's girlfriend from high school, married him and ended up devastated by his death. The actress will have a prime source for any research questions: Jacklin, now known as Judy Belushi-Pisano, is a producer on the film alongside Belushi's old friend and colleague Dan Aykroyd.

Assuming everything works out this time, Conrad should be rolling the cameras later this year in New York.

But we promised you a double dose of Ellen Page news, and here comes the second: you may already know that she's in place to star as Tara Chace in the adaptation of Greg Rucka's comic book Queen & Country. The project has John Rogers on script duty but didn't have a director. Craig Viveiros has come aboard to fill that particular folding chair, signing on to work on the Fox project and expressing his excitement to Variety: "I'm thrilled to be working with Fox and Ellen in the task of bringing Tara Chace and Queen & Country' to life on the big screen," Viveiros said. "The echoes of excitement in creating an exciting, unique bold addition the spy genre are held firm by Greg's solid, riveting source material."

The plot will find Chace, an agent of the Special Operations Section, which works under the SIS (think MI-6) trying to stop an international terrorist plot when her identity is compromised and her personal demons start to assert themselves.

Before she starts work on what all involved hopes will be a new comic book franchise. Page will be back on our screens for X-Men: Days Of Future Past, which arrives here on May 22.
