New Maleficent Trailer Flies In
Magic gives you wings

19 March 2014  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Disney

Yesterday, along with a new Maleficent banner showing Angelina Jolie’s titular dark fairy unfurling her wings to their full extension, there was a little teaser video of her flying. That was snipped from the new full trailer, which has landed online via Disney. Take a look below.

Maleficent aims to chronicle the hidden backstory lurking behind Sleeping Beauty, combining what we know – a new royal princess is born, fairies bestow gifts, except for one who curses her to fall into a death-like sleep when she pricks her finger on a needle as she turns 16 – with the unexplored story of how Maleficent came to be seething with vengeful fury.

This new trailer, which blends scenes we’ve seen with plenty of new footage, gives us a proper look at Maleficent in action as sorceress, warrior woman and haunted antihero. If you were wondering when they might show off moments with a dragon, you’ll also get your fix here.

Robert Stromberg is the man in charge of calling the shots and he wrangled a cast that included Elle Fanning, Miranda Richardson, Sharlto Copley, Peter Capaldi, Lesley Manville, Brenton Thwaites, Imelda Staunton and Juno Temple. Maleficent hits our screens on May 30.
