We received the first still from Jake Kasdan's Sex Tape a few weeks ago, and now here's the first official poster, showcasing Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel... and rather more of the former than of the latter.
It's "a movie about a movie they don't want you to see", according to the tagline. It's clear that what Columbia's marketing department don't want us to see is Segel in his underwear, leading to the double standard we have before us. Or is it just that they're both in their pyjamas, and Segel just happens to wear more in bed? Whatever: please allow us to rectify the gender imbalance at work here.
Better? No, really, it's nothing. Let us now turn our attention to the film itself, which involves Segel and Diaz playing Jay and Annie, a couple who enjoyed an intense connection when they first got together, but are losing the passion after ten years of marriage and two kids.
In an attempt to inject a little passion and danger into their relationship, they decide to pack the children off to a friends’ house and make a video of themselves as they try out every position in The Joy Of Sex during one marathon, three-hour session. Of course, when they learn that the video has somehow escaped into the wider world, and they’re just one click away from being exposed (in every sense) to everyone they know, they race to reclaim their footage – and end up learning some hard truths in the process.
Elsewhere in Sex Tape's excellent cast are Rob Corddry, Jack Black, Rob Lowe (irony of the subject lost on no-one) and Ellie Kemper. Director Kasdan previously made Bad Teacher, Walk Hard and Zero Effect, so the force is strong with this one. It's currently in post-production and out in the UK on September 5.
