Olivia Wilde Joins HBO's New Music Drama
Co-starring with Bobby Cannavale

Olivia-Wilde-Joins-HBOs-New-Music-Drama

Olivia Wilde got a big career boost from the small screen thanks to her years on House, before graduating full time to cinema. Now HBO is luring her back to the gogglebox for a new, untitled rock ‘n’ roll pilot that will see her co-starring with Bobby Cannavale.

He’s playing Richie Finestra, the founder and president of a fictional major record label called American Century that has made careers and sold millions in 1970s New York. Richie, however, suddenly suffers a crisis of conscience when he’s faced with a life-changing decision, which has an impact on his family life, including his wife Devon (Wilde), a former model and actress. She largely gave up her partying ways when she married Richie, but heads back to them when her husband’s issues hit.

It’s not tough to see why anyone would want to be involved with this one: it boasts the creative team behind Boardwalk Empire, creator/producer (and Wolf Of Wall Street writer) Terence Winter and one Martin Scorsese, who also had something to do with that Oscar-nominated film. Oh, and Mick Jagger, a man who knows a little something about rock ‘n’ roll, is aboard as a producer, so the details should be authentic.

With Scorsese likely to direct the pilot (assuming he isn’t still busy on Silence), the show will kick off shooting in the summer, and HBO will decide whether to pick it up based on that.
