If we learned anything from Haywire, it’s that you really, truly don’t want to piss off a character played by Gina Carano. So we pity the fools who decide to kidnap her husband and demand a ransom in her new action thriller, In The Blood. It's just put its first trailer up at Apple.

In this one, Carano stars as Ava, a trained fighter who is trying to put her dark past behind her and embrace a fresh start. But when her new husband (Cam Gigandet) vanishes during their Caribbean honeymoon, Ava uncovers a violent underworld of conspiracy in the middle of an island paradise.

Far from collapsing into grief and fear, Ava instead pulls a Liam Neeson special and, armed with a deadly set of skills, sets out to discover the truth. One by one, she’ll take down the men she thinks are responsible for his abduction, even when all the forces of the island are arrayed against her.

While the presence of John Stockwell (the man who made the likes of Into The Blue, Blue Crush and dodgy shark thriller Dark Tide) makes us worry that this could be similarly generic, Carano is certainly a magnetic lead and she has a fun mixed cast around her including Luis Guzman, Stephen Lang, Amaury Nolasco and Danny Trejo. In The Blood arrives in the US on April 4, but we’ve yet to discover a UK release date.
