Elodie Yung Joins Gods Of Egypt
She'll play Hathor, goddess of beauty

When Alex Proyas' Paradise Lost fell through, he turned his attention to a different mythology, and his Gods Of Egypt have been assembling at Summit Entertainment ever since. Gerard Butler, Geoffrey Rush, Nicolaj Coster-Waldau, Brenton Thwaites, Courtney Eaton and Chadwick Boseman are already on board, and they're now joined by District 13: Ultimatum's Elodie Yung.

The bonkers plot, set in Ancient Egypt, sees Butler playing Set, the god of the desert, storms and foreigners in the Egyptian pantheon. After killing and mutilating his own brother, Osiris (god of the afterlife, not yet cast), as part of his plan to murder their father Ra (the sun god, played by Rush), he faces the wrath of his nephew Horus (god of vengeance, played by Coster-Waldau). Never a good idea to anger a god of vengeance.

Yung will be playing Hathor, the goddess of love, beauty, motherhood, foreign lands, mining, music and cows (although it's possible not all of those aspects will be relevant). She's on Team Horus, working against Set's dastardly schemes. Boseman is playing Thoth, the god of wisdom. And Thwaites and Eaton are Bek and Zaya: two humans caught up in the celestial conflict.

Gods Of Egypt is currently in pre-production, gearing up for its shoot in Sydney, Australia. Proyas wrote the script with Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, and is aiming to have the film ready for release on February 12, 2016.
