Have The Fantastic Four Finally Been Found?
Jamie Bell and more are reportedly the choices

Have-The-Fantastic-Four-Been-Found

The rumours on this one have dragged on for ages, with speculation, alleged revelations, denials and counter-announcements from many of the usual sources. Now, though, with the clock ticking and director Josh Trank set to start making the new Fantastic Four film this summer, the various US trade mags are reporting that Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell have made the cut as the fresh faces of the superhero team.

20th Century Fox has been trying to get the updated version of the Marvel heroes moving for a while now, auditioning and testing a variety of actors to play stretchy genius Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, science whizz and see-through heroine Sue Storm/Invisible Girl, hot-tempered (and flame-able) Johnny Storm/The Human Torch and rocky stalwart Ben Grimm/The Thing.

Jordan in particular has reportedly been in the mix as Johnny Storm for a long time, partly thanks to his prior working relationship with Trank on Chronicle and partly because Fox has an option on him as part of his contract from that film. Teller (Richards) and Mara (Sue Storm), meanwhile, have been favourites for a while, though there is apparently some question over Teller’s availability: he’s committed to Divergent sequel Insurgent and there are other projects jockeying for his time, so a final deal there may have to first take his schedule into account.

Bell, meanwhile, is a new name in the mix, though The Wrap attributes that to the fact that the process to find someone to play Ben Grimm has been arduous. Bell brings both chops and experience with performance capture technology, which will come in handy for creating the character, last played by Michael Chiklis under stifling latex. Bell's a little smaller than the average Thing, but the performance capture should sort that out nicely.

As of right now, all four casting choices can still be considered floating in the rumour void as neither 20th Century Fox nor Trank have made any official announcement. Still, given the flurry of sudden stories, expect that situation to change soon, even if we have to endure another round of denials before the final names emerge. From the sounds of it, though, we may finally have our Four. What say you of these plucky wannabe heroes? Fantastic? Or not what you hoped?

And whoeever ends up in the super-suits, The Fantastic Four is scheduled to arrive on June 18, 2015.

RE: Let's not forget Fanboys know nothing.
Hmmm... But changing the ethnicity and the age(s) of the comic book "family" is a complete other story. I'm sorry but having Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara as Brother and sister? That's like casting a ginger haired Scotsman as Falcon (the first ever African/American Comic Hero) in Captain America. It's not going a little bit off the cuff with casting, it's taking the piss. I'm going out on a limb and say that Jordan's character will be adopted and that will be of major importance to the plot of this or an upcoming movie. Calm the beans everyone, they got a bunch of great actors, it's not like they casted kristen stewart. More

L: Darren47 Making the Fantastic Four a bunch of mid to late twenty somethins? Bad Idea! Bad Idea! Bad Idea! Kate Mara could work, but everyone else is a bad idea! If I was doing the casting. I would eye Edward Norton As Mr. Fantastic. Charlzie Theron as The Invisible woman. Ryan Kwanten as the human torch. I wouldn't know who I want to be The Thing, But I'm just throwing out my opinion. ink Dwayne Johnson would make a great Thing. He certainly has the muscles for the part! More

Unconvincing
If that's the cast list, then this casting is a load of nonsense. The human Torch CANNOT be black. He is and always has been a WHITE CHARACTER. Totally stinks of a excuse for political correctness. More

Marketing Men Taking Over Films - Cynical Casting!
The casting reads like a PR company's proposal! Right - kids love superheroes and young people, let's put that together. Wait! They're meant to be a family? That doesn't work for our marketing department! We've already started designing toys for our fast food chains. Also, someone mentioned on this boards that The Wolverine was a step in the right direction! Of what? Bad scriptwriting! Even Hugh Jackman admitted recently that it wasn't as good as he hoped! 20th Century Fox have always d More

Kate Mara and Michael B Jordan: I always thought they were related
Johnny Storm and Sue Storm have to remain brother and sister. HAVE TO. So how the hell are you going to explain the parentage on this one? Both white or both black is fine but come on Fox!!! I suppose this is what they call positive discrimination. Well done USA. Well done. On a side note; Kate Mara Mahuminahuminahuminahuminahuminahuminahumina.... More

RE: Worst Casting Choices Ever!
The reason I'm not happy with this casting is more complicated than just about the race of an actor. The Fantastic Four are a family of superheroes, that aspect of the FF was completely mishandled in the previous films. In the original comics Reed and Sue's relationship is fairly straight forward, Sue is Reed's girlfriend. Sue and Johnny's relationship is much more interesting and one of my favourite aspects of the comics, they are brother and sister but Sue is also a mother figure to the More

Fantastic Four
and I have faith in Josh Trank... 20th Century Fox on the other hand have a solid record of crapping on Marvel fans and sticking their collective 'paint by numbers' approach to film making down directors (and in turn our) throats. Granted, The Wolverine was a much needed step in the right direction after the abysmal, I say abysmal (stop defending it!!!) Origins: Wolverine which ruined a promising career for another talented up and coming director, Gavin Hood, whom made the excellent Tsotsi, so t More

Fantastic Four was 2/5 stars. ROTSS was an improvement, but only an average 3/5 stars. If there was one thing those films did well it was the casting. For the reboot it seems a lot like FF 90210. You'd think Fox would bother getting a larger actor to play Ben Grimm since a burly man in a mo-cap suit would cost less to render into SFX. I cautiously wait for set photos/clips from the film. HMMPHH.....
Ultimates, schmultimates. Tim Story’s 2 films were far from perfect but now it looks like we’re going to end up with another steaming great pile….. Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm? Okaaaay…….. I’ll buy a ticket to watch a motion capture Thing and some proper Kirby tech – but “ultimately” all the sfx and pretty young faces in the world won’t save this film if the script is rubbish. Give them a chance...
Given how appallingly shite the other two FF films were; I'm willing to give anything ago to be honest and, whilst I know very little about the other two casting choices, both Bell and Jordan are solid good actors. Is it me?
Or do these four look like they'd suit the casting of Runaways rather than Fantastic Four? Interesting bit of info, Jamie Bell was cast because according to the film's casting staff "they found no other suitable candidates" - that's right, not because he's right for the role, but because no-one else was even remotely good enough. You see, this is the problem when a studio is making (or remaking) a film not because they want a good adaptation, but so they don't have to hand back the ri More

I agree, I too think they all seem a tad young. I wasn't a fan if the ultimate universe version of the fantastic four. And prefer the original source. I also kinda hoped they wouldn't do an orgin movie and just put us straight in to an adventure of the fantastic four. But we shall see hot it pans out. I will check it out none the less More

Let's not forget Fanboys know nothing.
Previous castings that Fanboys initially dismissed include Michael Keaton as Batman, Heath Ledger as The Joker, Daniel Craig as Bond, Robert Downey Junior as Iron Man (WTF Fanboys?!) and Anne Hathaway as Catwoman ... all of which smashed it. So now we currently have Ben Affleck, Jessie Eisenberg and Jamie Bell waiting to prove that, once again, Fanboys don't know anything about filmmaking other than what the characters look like in a comic book. That's not much is it? More

C'mon... am all for slightly out there casting but this looks a bit like project x crossed with the fantastic four. The plot will no doubt be the human torch holds a killer party at his parents house which gets out of control and its up to the super team to get it back in shape!
