Full Penny Dreadful Trailer Screams Online

Last month brought the eerie first teaser for the new erotic horror series Penny Dreadful, spawn by Skyfall co-writer John Logan and director Sam Mendes. Now here comes a longer look at the show, which features Josh Hartnett and Eva Green among its cast. 

Set in Victorian London, it features some of literature’s most iconic characters who become wrapped up in various mysteries. Green will be the heroine, Vanessa Ives, while Hartnett will be “fake cowboy” Ethan Chandler. Timothy Dalton plays the mysterious Sir Malcolm, while Reeve Carney is Dorian Gray and Harry Treadaway is Victor Frankenstein. Origin stories are weaved together with different tales, and the whole result looks like it takes full advantage of Showtime’s’ looser restrictions on gore and nudity.

With Josh Pence, Billie Piper and Rory Kinnear also in the cast and Sky Atlantic on board as co-producers, we can expect to see this one fairly close to the US airdate, which Showtime has announced as May 11.
