Rob Cohen Takes Risk
A heist film, not the game adaptation

Rob-Cohen-Takes-Risk

Despite the double punch of disappointment that was The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor and Alex Cross, it seems that luck is still with Rob Cohen. With several projects bubbling away in the development broth, he’s now attached to a new assignment, one called Risk.

It is not, as the title might suggest, an adaptation of the popular strategy board game (that’s already been optioned). This Risk is an art heist film written by Erich Harlacher that appears to borrow from the Big Book Of Thriller Tropes.

Our hero is a talented thief who is sprung early from prison and tasked with pulling off what many consider impossible: a once-in-a-lifetime job that could make him rich or make him dead.

Yet despite the temptation, he’s reluctant to head back down the same path that lead him to prison, so he’s caught in a triangle between the crime boss who ordered the job and his accomplice, a beautiful, mysterious woman whose true motives are cloudy. Yeah, it does sound like a lot of films we’ve watched before, so we’ll have to wait and see if there’s a new spin hidden somewhere between the lines.

Cohen, who has just worked on low-budget thriller The Boy Next Door, is scheduled to begin shooting this one in the summer, but there's no word on the cast just yet.
