Transformers: Age Of Extinction Super Bowl Spot Brings The Dinobots

So, what were you expecting from the first footage look at Transformers: Age Of Extinction? Long stretches of Brechtian angst or silent contemplation of raindrops? Of course not! And the Super Bowl spot for the new slab of Bayhem features the usual: explosions, more explosions and all the robo-shots that ILM’s hardworking team have had time to to produce. 

Based on this very brief look, it’s certainly a Transformers film: robots slice through cars, robots smash buildings, Optimus Prime appears to have yet another Very Bad Day and the humans (including Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor) scream, run around being scared and reacting to the techno-madness around them.

It’s all sort of been-there-done-that-got-the-robo-shirt, until what looks like Swoop the Dinobot (he’s a Pteradon) shows up and then we cut to the really fun bit. There's Optimus riding a Dino who looks very much like Grimlock, if he was a Bay-style ‘roided out, dragon-flavoured version of himself. And suddenly we feel 6 again.

Bay’s films typically make for good trailers – lots of eye candy – so we’ll have to wait and see if the whole Age Of Extinction can banish bad memories of Revenge Of The Fallen in particular. This new effort is out on July 10.

Too much happening
and not enough to excite. Don't like the quick editing in the trailer. Makes me think its hyping itself up too much by just having big moments. Just seems like there is all action no real plot which was the problem with the last two. (I know the first had the thin scrapings of one but it was fun and new) More

Bloody Awful
Looks worse than I could have imagined. Generic action -Transformers crash through buildings and fall over at the same time. Good to see something we haven't seen before, eh. More

Looks gnawsome, from Dinobots to Bayhem, But that Nicola Peltz looks horrendous! I'm wondering if she'll become a girl Sam Witwicky, Who was the main problem for me in the entire series. Everything else looks fine, but frickin cool! More

I don't know of any two-headed Pteranodons. And Grimlock looks more like a dragon to me. Are these supposed to be dinosaurs, or mythical creatures? More

don't get me Wrong I like the TF movies. But this one looks bad, it looks like pretty much a repeat of DOTM. just with new bad guys and a couple of new good guys. Oh and what the hell was Bay thinking, when he decided to change the look of Bumble bee and Optimus. More
