Chadwick-Boseman-Added-To-Gods-Of-Egypt

After making a big impact with his turn as baseball legend Jackie Robinson in 42, Chadwick Boseman has been fielding (no pun intended) offers from all sorts of filmmakers. You can add Alex Proyas to the list, because he’s cast Boseman in his mythological adventure Gods Of Egypt.

The plot, as you might guess, is set in ancient Egypt. When Set (Gerard Butler) kills his brother, Osiris, the dead god’s son Horus (Nikolai Coster-Waldau) teams up with Hathor, the goddess of love to seek vengeance. He’ll also have to try to stop Set when he goes after Ra, their father (Geoffrey Rush). Boseman in on board to play Thoth, the god of wisdom.

Australian actor Brenton Thwaites, meanwhile, will be Bek, a human thief with little time for gods, who becomes involved when Set curses a woman named Zaya (Courtney Eaton), and hopes the deity’s death will set her free. It's not clear yet what role Boseman will take, but we'll keep our ears to the ground to find out.

Proyas wrote the script with Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, and is aiming to have the film ready for release on February 12, 2016. Boseman will next be seen as James Brown in The Help director Tate Taylor’s new biopic Get On Up. That one will hit our screens on August 1.
