D.J. Caruso Attached To Direct Selling Time
Will Smith still interested, but not committed

DJ-Caruso-Attached-To-Direct-Selling-Time

Supernatural drama Selling Time is one of those films with an interesting plot hook that nevertheless can’t seem to hang onto the talent it manages to snag. Now the producers behind the movie are hoping that director D.J. Caruso will hang around long enough to get it made.

Selling Time, which has been in development for years (since at least 2006, when Spike Lee was interested and did a pass on the script), is also about the passing of days, weeks and years. The story follows a man handed what sounds like a dangerous but tempting deal: he can go back and change a life-shattering event from his past, but the price is several years from his life expectancy.

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver were behind one draft, and Dan McDermott has been at work on new versions for a while. Will Smith was attached last October, but Variety’s report makes clear that he’s not officially attached to star, and may wait to see what McDermott’s latest draft and Caruso’s take have to offer.

Caruso, who last brought us I Am Number Four on the big screen, has seen his latest, Standing Up, receive a limited release Stateside and premieres on DVD elsewhere. Elsewhere on his To Do list, he’s still attached to develop and direct the big screen version of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s Preacher graphic novel series, another long-mooted project. Let's see which makes it to the screen first.
