The Amazing Trailer For The Amazing Spider-Man 2
UPDATE: International version arrives

UPDATE: Peter Parker has gone viral. Hidden within The Amazing Spider-Man 2's trailer, it turns out, is an amazing URL for an amazing website. Or at least, the site may do something amazing at some point.

As it stands, visiting electroarrives.com - the address revealed in a beam of light at 02:09 in the promo (to the right of Jamie Foxx's head above) - gives us Dane DeHaan's Harry Osborn sitting in Oscorp looking at a fancy tablet device showing some mysterious footage that looks like a body falling into a tank. The words "Ravencroft" and "Max Dillon experiment" are visible (Ravencroft is Marvel's equivalent of Arkham Asylum; Max Dillon is Electro), and there's also a countdown that will reach zero on New Year's Eve.

What happens then? Well in the real world some Spidey shenanigans are being planned for the New Year celebrations in New York's Times Square. On the website... we'll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, keep poring over the trailer below for more clues. Empire's excellent shot-by-shot breakdown may provide some assistance.

The pre-Christmas rush of big trailers for upcoming films is getting going in earnest now. Yesterday saw a new look at 300: Rise Of An Empire, The Monuments Men and Pompeii, and today we get a fresh gander at The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and in particular a first look at Paul Giamatti's Rhino and Dane DeHaan's Harry Osborn. Check it out below.

The film sees Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) more comfortable in his Spider-skin these days and enjoying his abilities, along with girlfriend Gwen Stacey (Emma Stone). But his good mood is about to be tested when new villains appear in the shape of Jamie Foxx's Elektro and Paul Giamatti's Rhino, and rich kid Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) tells Peter that he's been under surveillance by Oscorp. Yikes.

Marc Webb is back as director, and promised at Comic-Con that this one will be "operatic" in scale and ambition. This trailer certainly seems to suggest that he's right, and we're sneakily happy that they've lost the first-person web-shooter cam of the last film in favour of a more classic style here.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits cinemas on April 18, 2014, with two more instalments planned for May 2016 and May 2018. Expect lots more from our friendly neighbourhood menace, in other words.

There's also an international version of the trailer online, which you can see below...

RE: The Amazing Trailer For The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Trailer looks pretty good but we all know what a mess Spiderman 3 was when Spidey had to deal with three villains. Like the fist Amazing Spiderman, I will be waiting for home release, won't bother with a cinema visit. More

L: OPEN YOUR EYES Found this image on the net:ink]. Maybe musht is right after-all,because this doesn't look like DeHaan to me. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it looks abit like Andrew Garfield.ote] I actually missed that shot entirely, it actually looks for like DeHaan than the 'Goblin' that Spidey swings up and kicks. Interesting picture someone has managed to get a decent enough picture of link] More

RE: eh?
L: Alex M... Wasn't one of the main problems of Spiderman 3 the 'too many villains' angle? o. It was that it was badly written, directed and acted - the fact that it had three villains is an excuse by Raimi lovers to excuse a shitty ol' film! More

RE: STOP
L: musht L: OPEN YOUR EYES L: musht The Goblin that Spidey wing-kicks is definitely not DeHaan 'd have to disagree. 22 seconds in is DeHaan's eyes, also notice the oddly shaped ears. Then we have a quick back-shot of the character, presumably the Goblin. hat we have another shot of The Goblin later on,about 1:50 secs in. Not only do I think that is Dehaans face but also you have to take notice of the height of the character up against Spidey. Very similar More

RE: WHY THE TRANSFORMERS VILLAINS?
In the comics Rhino was a man in a suit unlike The Lizard who was an actual lizard. That's why in the movie The Rhino is a guy in a rhino suit. More
