As we all gear up for the release of The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug on December 13, we shouldn't forget about last year's An Unexpected Journey, and as a little reminder here's a behind-the-scenes glimpse of that film's Battle Of Moria, with second-unit director Andy Serkis explaining a little about what went into the sequence.
This was, of course, the flashback that explains why dwarves and goblins don't get along, and why Richard Armitage's Thorin, in particular, holds a bit of a grudge against the Moria natives. Hint: it involves the death of a family member. Of course, given that Thorin kills the orc responsible there's a grudge on the other side too.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Extended Edition is out on DVD now, so pick one up to see more from this. Of course, for all you need to know about the new film you should pick up a copy of Empire magazine, with our full coverage of the second part of the trilogy. That's on shelves both physical and digital right now.
