Phil Claydon Finds Crawlspace
Lesbian Vampire Killers director has new horror job

Though you might be forgiven for thinking that directing James Corden / Mathew Horne supernatural flop Lesbian Vampire Killers would be grounds for a decades-long stint in cinematic jail, Phil Claydon is being granted an early release. He’s set to direct Crawlspace for New Line.

The man helping to spring Claydon’s career from big screen limbo is James Wan, who has signed on to produce the film. It’s being primed as another low-budget horror for New Line, in the hopes that it might end up scoring as well as Wan’s recent hit The Conjuring.

Gary Dauberman has written the script, which finds a family moving to a new house and – wait for it, you can almost predict this one – discovering that it’s full of creepy energy. However, that’s not the end of the story, because the real dark secret of the place is still lurking within. Not-so-coincidentally, the project was once itself called Within.

Wan himself is, of course, busy exploring new territory away from the scare space for now, directing Fast & Furious 7. Hopefully his experienced touch will help Claydon and co come up with something a little more satisfying than his previous stab at horror tropes.
