Nicholas Hoult May Be Among Equals

Although it is another tale of love, Like Crazy / Breathe In writer-director Drake Doremus is branching out a little with his next film, sci-fi drama Equals. He’s busy looking for a cast and has Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart attached to star.

Very little is known about the film beyond its genre, though Doremus has been working on it for months with Moon writer Nathan Parker. He’s described it as his biggest project yet, and one that will see him dabbling not only in a new genre, but dealing with special effects for the first time. Financial backing will be provided by Breathe In production company Indian Paintbrush and he wants the cameras cranking next year.

Hoult, who was seen in Warm Bodies and Jack The Giant Slayer this year, has Young Ones, Mad Max: Fury Road and a little film called X-Men Days Of Future Past (more on that here) awaiting release. He’s also just worked on Dark Places.

Stewart has indie films Sils Maria and Camp X-Ray under her belt and is next set to work on The Big Shoe.
