Just because a bunch of actors and director Rob Marshall have gone into the woods for, er, Into The Woods, that doesn’t stop someone from trying to make a movie called Into The Forest. It’s not a musical but a dystopian future tale, and it’ll star Ellen Page and Evan Rachel Wood.
Patricia Rozema is directing the adaptation of Jean Heglund’s novel, which will find Page and Wood as sisters struggling to survive when society collapses in a near-future scenario. To escape the day-to-day horrors of their Northern California city, the escape into the local woods. Sorry, forest.
Page is aboard to produce the film, which doesn’t have a set start date yet. She was seen this year in The East and will show up in 2014 as part of the sprawling ensemble in X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Wood has Charlie Countryman and rom-com A Case Of You in her future and has just finished work on Barefoot.
