New Banner For The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug
Get the big picture

17 October 2013  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Warner Bros.

They like their banners in Middle-earth, they do. Actually, the team looking to convince us all to continue the journey with Martin Freeman’s Bilbo and co in The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug really seem to, as we’ve already had several character banners. Here, though, comes a massive great single image with most of the leads present and correct (except Smaug, of course, but then he’s camera shy).

The second of Peter Jackson's adaptations, The Desolation Of Smaug continues the adventure of Bilbo as he journeys with Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and the thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. But then, you know that by now.

Of course, Bilbo will also run into Smaug (voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch and various elves, including Thranduil (Lee Pace), Tauriel (Evangeline Lilly) and our old friend Legolas (Orlando Bloom).

With Sylvester McCoy, Cate Blanchett, Manu Bennett, Hugo Weaving, Aidan Turner, Billy Connolly, Graham McTavish, Dean O’Gorman, James Nesbitt, Stephen Fry, Mikael Persbrandt and Conan Stevens also in the cast, The Desolation Of Smaug is out on December 13.

Bring back proper film artwork
So fed up with photoshopped posters. Great artwork in the style of Amsel or Jung, something that someone had put some love into, now that would create a buzz. More
