Chloe Moretz Joins November Criminals
For Hitchcock director Sacha Gervasi

Chloe Moretz

Telekenetic stunt happenings are announcing the imminent arrival of Carrie, after which we'll see Chloe Moretz going up against Denzel Washington in The Equalizer. And after that, Moretz has just lined up The November Criminals, to be directed by Sacha Gervasi (Anvil: The Story Of Anvil, Hitchcock).

Sending Chloe back to high school once again (after Kick-Ass 2 and Carrie this year alone), the film is based on Sam Munson's novel, published in 2011. The book's blurb describes it as "a dark and hilarious pot-infused novel of teenage maladjustment".

The story's protagonist is Addison Schacht, who's rebel enough to be selling drugs to his classmates, but is also intent on getting into the University of Chicago, and in love with his best friend Phoebe (AKA "Digger"). As if that weren't keeping him busy enough, he then turns obsessed detective after his classmate Kevin is murdered. Hmm - shades of either Brick or Veronica Mars there.

Moretz has, of course, nabbed the Phoebe/Digger part, while Addison is said to currently be one of the most hotly contested roles among a generation of Hollywood actors.

Steven Knight (Eastern Promises) wrote the screenplay originally, and it's since been reworked by Gervasi himself. If all continues to go according to plan, shooting could start as early as next January. The novel isn't in print in the UK, but is published in the US by Anchor.
