Fox Adopts Mark Millar's Kindergarten Heroes
Carter Blanchard's set to script

Mark Millar's Kindergarten Heroes

If you thought Mark Millar could only write comics filled with ultraviolence, swearing and all manner of other adult-orientated elements, think again. A couple of years ago, he and artist Curtis Tiegs brought out children’s book Kindergarten Heroes, and 20th Century Fox thinks it has film potential.

Kindergarten Heroes, as the name suggests, is a traditional kids’ book, but with some superhero characters as the leads, including the zippy Whiz-Kid. "All I'll say is that it does what it says on the box, which is that this is the kindergarten where all the superheroes leave their toddlers when they go on their adventures,” Millar told Comic Book Resources last year.

"We never see the parents, so we can assume that these kids are the super-powered offspring of all your favourite heroes. It's very cute and their little adventures, in terms of tone, would be similar to Pixar. I'm trying to make it genuinely funny, genuinely exciting and genuinely dramatic when it needs to be. I'd like my readers to buy this for their kids or little brothers and sisters, but at the same time really enjoy it themselves."

Carter Blanchard, a writer who has been making a name for himself with assignments such as the new Spy Hunter film and DreamWorks’ Glimmer, the tale of teens who discover a portal to the past and end up mucking with history, is on board to crank out the script under the oversight of Simon Kinberg. Expected number of F-bombs in the film? Zero. Poop gags? Possibly a few. For your cute super-baby needs in the meantime, we recommend this JLA Junior run.
