Hiiiiiiiiii-yaaa! That's the sound, give or take, of some new Kick-Ass 2 character pics karate-chopping their way through the Empire firewall and into our inbox. Giving us the eye are Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Hit Girl (Chloë Moretz) and Night Bitch (Lindy Booth), as well as big bads The Motherfucker (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), Black Death (Daniel Kaluuya), Genghis Carnage (Tom Wu) and Mother Russia (Olga Kurkulina). Perhaps unsurprisingly, Jim Carrey's Colonel Stars And Stripes is nowhere to be seen.

This time around, Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Kick-Ass / Dave Lizewski has teamed up with a group of other would-be superheroes in costume, led by Carrey's Colonel. Meanwhile, Chloë Moretz's Hit Girl is attempting to adjust to normal life as teenager Mindy MacReady with mixed results, and they're all threatened by Christopher Mintz-Plasse's orphaned mad man, who's set on revenge and sporting a red-band sobriquet.

Kick-Ass 2 also stars Clark Duke, John Leguizamo, Morris Chestnut and Lyndsy Fonseca, and hits UK cinemas on August 14 and the US on August 16. The red-band trailer is below and Empire's Comic-Con coverage can be found here.
