The Star Wars Graphic Novel Has A Promo
See George Lucas' early script brought to life

If you’re fascinated by cinematic 'What If' stories, you may already be aware of The Star Wars, with Dark Horse Comics turning one of George Lucas’ early 1974 drafts for a certain space saga into an eight-issue graphic novel. Now the title has a trailer, which can be found at USA Today.

While it’s not the most technologically advanced promo out there, it does give a solid look at some of the characters, including war veteran Luke Skywalker and farm boy Annikin Starkiller. Let’s not forget the green-skinned take on Han Solo, here an alien pirate already very much a rebel.

"You can teach a college course on how he got from that story to his first Star Wars film," graphic writer J.W. Rinzler tells the paper. "Francis Ford Coppola read the rough draft and thought it was pretty good. He wasn't really sure why George was changing it." But change it he did, though some elements will be distinctly recognizable including R2D2 (though he talks more than just in beeps and whistles), C3PO, Obi-Wan, the Emperor and more.

The comic series itself will launch on September 4. You can read more about it at USA Today’s site.

*gasp*!
I'd imagine that's some Drew Struzan work, given he's a friend of George. More
