Rosamund Pike Offered Gone Girl's Lead
Looks like David Fincher has an Amy Dunne

Since Ben Affleck snatched the male lead in David Fincher’s adaptation of Gillian Flynn novel Gone Girl, movement on the movie has kicked up a gear. Fincher had been trying to lock in the right actress to handle the challenging part of Amy Dunne, and it appears he’s offered it to Rosamund Pike.

Flynn’s twisty, compelling novel, which she’s been adapting for the Social Network director and producer Reese Witherspoon, tracks married couple Nick and Amy Dunne as their fifth wedding anniversary dawns and Amy vanishes.

Unravelled in chapters that alternate between Nick dealing with the missing person’s case and the suspicion that falls upon him, and Amy’s diary chronicling their happy early days and the slow disintegration of the marriage, Gone Girl blends mystery with emotion and, while it’ll be tough to make into a movie, we have faith in Fincher.

Now Pike seems to have won the part chased by Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt and Natalie Portman among others, with Fincher set to start the cameras rolling in September. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry are being considered for supporting roles.

Pike is currently on UK screens in The World’s End, hanging out with Simon Pegg and the gang. She has A Long Way Down, Return To Sender and Pegg reunion Hector And The Search For Happiness all in post-production, with likely 2014 release dates.
