Abigail Breslin Will Be Maggie
With Arnold Schwarzenegger in the zombie drama

We were, we must admit, a little surprised to see Arnold Schwarzenegger swapping his usual action-flavoured fare for something a little quieter and, perhaps more deeply emotional. Yet he’s still attached to zombie drama Maggie, with Abigail Breslin in talks to sign on.

The long-gestating Maggie, written by John Scott 3, finds a father (Schwarzenegger) coping with the fact that his young daughter has been infected by an (un)deadly virus during a zombie apocalypse. Plagued with guilt and indecision, he decides to forego putting a bullet in her noggin as she slowly deteriorates, choosing instead to spend all the time she has left by her side.

Ads director Henry Hobson is making the leap to cinema for the film, with shooting currently set for the autumn.

Breslin enjoyed a hit recently with Halle Berry thriller The Call (which will hit UK screens on September 20), and will show up in Ender’s Game (out October 25), August: Osage County (set for December 26) and Wicked Blood, which doesn’t set have a release date.

"Remember When I Said You Weren't A Zombie? I Lied!"
Sounds depressing and schmaltzy, like one of those disease-of-the-week movies with someone wasting away in a bed. I'm hoping it will surprise me. More

RE: Arnie, eh?
I must say, this has an extremely intriguing premise that could make an absolutely brilliant film and Abigail Breslin is a fine young actress. But Arnold Schwarzenegger? While it is certainly too early to say he definitely can't pull it off, I think its fair to worry a little that the movie will end up ruined. More

Little Miss Hotty
The promise of Little Miss Sunshine and that film of a Judy Piccolo story with Cameron Diaz could be blown away in a single scene with the Austrian oak. What odds do we have on Arnie uttering something along the lines of "they'll be back" when he's offing zombies? Please, Abby, Bail, NOW. More
