New Clip From Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity Arrives
Update: And another...

Update: another new clip is online, featuring more of Sandy and George being flung about, trying to grab ahold of something, anything, to survive. You can find that at the bottom of the page.

Chances are you already watched the first trailer for Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity, and decided whether you would be up for watching it based on your desire to see the vertigo-inducing shots of Sandra Bullock and George Clooney being flung about in space. We doubt this new promo will do much to change your mind, but it still makes the film look both terrifying and visually beautiful.

Bullock is Dr. Ryan Stone, a medical engineer in orbit for her first shuttle mission, working alongside veteran space jockey Matt Kowalsky (Clooney), on his last trip before retirement.

While they’re on a routine spacewalk tragedy strikes and their shuttle is destroyed in a random accident. The pair find themselves suddenly very much alone, tethered only to each other and floating off into the inky depths. There’s no radio contact with Earth, and as panic sets in, they apparently discover the only way to get home might be to go deeper into space.

This fresh footage is really just more of the accident, but it gives more of the drama between Kowalsky and Stone as he tries to help her. You can read more about what we saw of the movie at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con right here; some of this footage appeared there, but in longer form and with a different soundtrack. Gravity, meanwhile, is out on October 18.

All 3 clips were amazing! Was sold… now I’m double sold. But I will be stashing a vom bag next to the smuggled in snacks when I head to the IMAX for this. More

RE: RE:
L: Oroborous I can't engage with a film that is just showy visuals, regardless of their quality. It's like getting a desert that's just sauces and fillings, sure, they are well crafted, but I'm hungry and I want some cake with that. stion is, has Alfonso baked a cake, or not? I just don't know at this point.ote] Well if you watch the film, I'm sure you'll find out either way. ood trailers tease, but primarily they are marketing tools. It's a bit silly to be dismissive of something ba More

RE: RE:
I don’t think these are really to be viewed as s traditional sense. WB is releasing 3 clips over 3 days, each showcasing single track shots. Call them small promos… perhaps even tech demos to get nerds and space enthusiasts interest but these aren’t really trailers. I should think after the 3rd clip is released there will be a theatrical trailer to follow the brilliant teaser that was released a while back. As amazing as I find these clips, they’re not going to spark interest with th More

L: Qwerty Norris Why? trailer only needs to entice and teaseeavy-indulgence in plot/character will only spoil its secrets for you. xactly, and this trailer did neither of those things. It just showed a clip that in itself could have simply been a short film experimenting with outer-space cgi/cinematography. It gives no impression of this as a full length film, or reason why I should watch it for 90+ minutes. I think Alfonso's previous film's are brilliant, but I don't like the More

L: Oroborous I hope there is more to this film than CGI people getting thrown about in space... I get that it's visually impressive, but I'd ideally want the trailer to intrigue me with the story and characters too. hy? A good trailer only needs to entice and tease. Any heavy-indulgence in plot/character will only spoil its secrets for you. More

L: DONOVAN KURTWOOD L: pete_traynor These are the most impressive FX shots I think I’ve seen composed yet! We are finally at ‘photoreal’ with Gravity on what we’ve been shown so far. Hats off to all concerned… this is stellar work!!! Sure this will be a nauseating experience in IMAX… and I’ll be first in line! wouldn't say it's photoreal. The CG is excellent, but it still looks CG. To these old eyes…that looks as real as it gets with 1's and 0's More

L: OPEN YOUR EYES Sandra Bullock's character seems to be getting a hard time in these trailers. But,generally, its looking good.ote] I’m really curious to see how (or if) this concept can sustain a full length feature. But given the director I am more than willing to go with it and find out! As a technical achievement though, this thing is already waaaayyyy out there. I seem to remember people talking it up a couple of years back, as the next true step from what Avatar ac More

But I'd say watching this on the big screen there will be many a person in the auditorium throwing up into their nacho tray from dizziness. I will wait till I see a proper trailer before deciding on whether I want to see the movie or not. More
