Rosemarie DeWitt Set For New Poltergeist Film
She's scared up a lead role

With the horror genre still proving to be a robust performer at the box office (see: The Conjuring), Sam Raimi and his team are pushing ahead with the remake of Poltergeist. Director Gil Kenan is still aboard to call the shots and the film has now found a leading lady in the shape of Rosemarie DeWitt.

After a long time spent screaming through development hell, the new take on Tobe Hooper’s 1982 frightener appears to be picking up steam, and has certainly made a solid choice in DeWitt, more often found in the indie likes of My Sister’s Sister and Rachel Getting Married.

Nothing is yet known about what the new movie will do to the story of a family who move into a seemingly perfect family home only to discover it was built on a burial ground and that spirits are hell-bent on causing chaos for the unwanted new arrivals. We’d offer a guess that DeWitt will be dealing with a missing child before too long, though.

Raimi is producing this one, which currently boasts a script by Oz The Great And Powerful co-writer (and Pulitzer-prize winning playwright) David Lindsay-Abaire.

DeWitt was last seen in Promised Land and next crops up in Touchy Feely. She’s currently at work on Kill The Messenger alongside Jeremy Renner.
