New 300: Rise Of An Empire Comic-Con Poster
Update: it's Calisto's turn

Update: There's another Comic-Con poster for 300: Rise Of An Empire (no relation), this time Jack O’Connell as Calisto. Three more promos are still to come, so check back over the duration of the San Diego convention.

The Comic-Con posters are coming thick and fast. 300: Rise of An Empire is the latest to take the pre-Con pedestal with a menacing effort that should achieve maximum cut-through in the halls of Sparta, if not San Diego.

Our first glimpses at artwork for the follow-up to Zack Snyder's hit comic-book history were filled with rain-swept torsos and bloody breakers. This time out it's the bad guys who take the limelight. That'd be the massed ranks of Xerxes's forces, each hellbent on crushing Athen's finest beneath their sandled feet.

Based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel Xerxes and told in the same visual style as Zack Snyder’s original film, this new chapter of the saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield – on the sea – as Athenian general Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.

That won’t be easy, as the effort pits him against against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and Artemisia (Eva Green), vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

Director Noam Murro and producer Snyder are promising more of the hyper-stylised beefcake blood-letting that smashed the box office like some kind of giant smashing thing back in 2006.

300: Rise Of An Empire is scheduled for a UK release on March 7, 2014.

Sullivan Stapleton...
Not sure what people see in him to be honest. As an Aussie, I've seen him rise up the acting ladder, and I'm flabbergasted as to how he's done it. More
