New Still From All You Need Is Kill
Cruise recruits Emily Blunt

The last time we saw an image from Doug Liman’s new sci-fi movie All You Need Is Kill, it featured Tom Cruise doing the traditional action hero walk (well, run) away from a fireball, though he did have the good grace to at least look a bit worried about it. For the new image from EW, we can’t help but think he ended up at Emily Blunt’s farm in Looper and handed her a tech suit like his own.

In actual fact, Blunt is a fellow officer fighting alongside Cruise’s Bill Cage as humanity tries to battle a race of invading aliens that seem to possess the ability to control time. We’re headed for an all-but inevitable defeat until Cruise figures out a time-travel loop, which means he dies in battle again and again, but learns something new each time, and tries to crack the secret to beating the extra-terrestrial nasties.

Though that makes sound even more like Rian Johnson’s film, it’s actually based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s Manga, and has been through the scripting hands of Joby Harold, Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, D.W. Harper and Christopher McQuarrie.

Bill Paxton, Charlotte Riley, Jonas Armstrong and Marianne Jean-Baptiste are all among the cast for this one, which is out on May 30 next year and will have a presence at this year’s Comic-Con.
