Micheal Pena, Gangster Squad premiere

After dealing with criminals in both End Of Watch and Gangster Squad, Michael Pena appears ready to tackle demons for Mark Neveldine’s new horror thriller The Vatican Tapes.

According to Deadline, Pena is aboard to play Father Lozano in the film, which finds a young woman (Olivia Dudley) unwittingly causing death and destruction wherever she goes. Pena’s priest will be the first to attempt to help her.

He’s joining a cast that includes Djimon Hounsou, Dougray Scott, Kathleen Robertson, Peter Andersson, John Patrick Amedori and Alex Sparrow, with Neveldine working from a script that he and Michael C. Martin have been re-writing.

It’s a busy time for Pena, who has already worked on a slightly more light-hearted demonic tale for Hell & Back, will be heard in DreamWorks Animation’s ‘toon Turbo (out here on October 18), and will crop up in both American Hustle and Frontera. He’s next set to reunite with End Of Watch’s David Ayer for tank pic Fury.
