Snowpiercer Trailer Pulls In
Chris Evans leads a rail revolt

Though the file quality is not all it could be, the first trailer for Bong Joon-Ho’s English-language debut Snowpiercer is online and does nothing to dampen our enthusiasm for the dystopian social sci-fi action drama.

Snowpiercer is set in 2031, at a time after the world has suffered a massive ecological disaster from a failed experiment to stop global warming, and has been plunged into a new ice age. The only survivors are crammed onto a massive train that ploughs through the howling storms.

Inside are people in different classes of compartment, from the cramped back end to the relatively luxurious front. All is not well on the train, and soon class warfare breaks out, led by Chris Evans’ disaffected Curtis, fed up with the posturing and privilege of poshos like Mason (Tilda Swinton).

Adapted by the director and Kelly Masterson from Benjamin Legrand and Jacuqes Lob’s graphic novel, Snowpiercer features a corking cast that includes Evans, Swinton, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Alison Pill, Ed Harris, Octavia Spencer and Ewen Bremner. Frustratingly, there’s still no UK release date set for this one, but we remain hopeful.
