Killing Season Poster Up
De Niro & Travolta get loaded

Looking for all the world like they just saw someone who dissed Battlefield Earth and Meet The Fockers and decided to act, John Travolta and Robert De Niro are tooled up in the first poster for indie action thriller Killing Season. Take a look...

In actual fact, the film – which sees Mark Steven Johnson directing an Evan Daugherty script – has Bosnian War veteran De Niro living off the grid deep in the Appalachian mountains.

When a European tourist (Travolta) shows up, the pair forms an unlikely friendship. But wouldn’t you know it: the tourist is also a Bosnian veteran, except he fought for Serbia... And what follows is a tense battle across some of America’s most forbidding landscape proving the old adage: the purest form of war is one-on-one.

That’s it, it’s war, and we predict bang after bang after bang on this one. Well, bang after thwip, given that Travolta’s Emil Kovac is going all Katniss Everdeen there with a bow.

Elizabeth Olin and Milo Ventimiglia are also in the cast for the movie, which hits the US on July 12, but has no set UK date yet.

love the idea
but wtf is that hat about?? and the honest abe beard? whatever - i like stuff like this but it looks like the sorta thing i'd watch on Film 4 as opposed to the cinema... reminds me of a Sidney Poitier/Tom Berenger movie. Title anyone? and it's kind of a bit First Blood (sorta) and then there's the Shooter-guy-living-in-the-mountains thing (I'm sure there's other movies like that) but the casting is a bit odd. DeNiro - no problem with - still love him. Travolta - no real worries BUT... he More

Killing Season was one of those hot scripts that everyone raved about. These scripts never seem to make very good movies for some reason. Just goes to prove William Goldman's famous saying that nobody in Hollywood knows anything. For me, De Niro and Travolta are long past their sell-by dates, they sleepwalk through movies now for the money without much enthusiasm. I'll give Killing Season a chance and would love to be surprised but I'm not expecting much. More
