Exclusive: Luke Evans On The Crow Reboot
'What can't you tell us about The Crow?'

Luke Evans is now set to star in the upcoming remake of The Crow. Bradley Cooper was once attached, Tom Hiddleston was rumoured, even James McAvoy was considered, but it's official: Evans will don Draven's corpse paint. Speaking to Evans at the Fast & Furious 6 junket recently, Empire asked him about it, and here's what he had to say.

Though he doesn't reveal too much about the angle the reboot will take - that's a question for director F. Javier Gutierrez - it's interesting to see how positive and confident Evans is about challenging the first adaptation from way back in 1994, brought to us by director Alex Proyas and star Brandon Lee.

This new Crow was kickstarted by Stephen Norrington in 2009, with the Blade director planning to shoot his own screenplay, which would have taken place in Detroit and the American Southwest. Nick Cave wrote a draft in 2010, before Norrington walked over creative differences with the studio. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) signed on in early 2011, beating Gutierrez to the gig, but when Fresnadillo moved on later the same year, Gutierrez was back in the game.

As for Evans, he's in Fast & Furious 6, out today (May 17), with The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug due on December 13. Dracula Year Zero is currently in pre-production with a pencilled-in US release date of August 2014. If everything goes well, The Crow will start shooting early next year.

Could he be more vague?
