Collins Set for City Of Bones Sequel

We were a little surprised to see Screen Gems and Constantin Film starting development of a prequel to their Lilly Collins/Jamie Campbell-Bower-starring adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones last month. It’s less surprising to learn that Collins and Campbell-Bower are now on for the sequel, City Of Ashes.

The first film doesn’t even hit cinemas until August, but the companies behind it are already touting the second movie based on Cassandra Clare’s novels, with Harald Zwart back in the director’s chair and Jessica Postigo Paquette returning to write the script once again.

While Bones will introduce young Clary Fray (Collins) and her discovery that she’s a half-angel demon hunter who can perceive things us mundanes cannot, City Of Ashes will continue her journey into this new world, and learning how to use her powers. Of course, things also get more complicated…

City Of Bones arrives on August 23. Check out the first trailer at the bottom of the page.

In related Young Adult adaptation sequel news, Summit Entertainment has similarly confident feelings where dystopian sci-fi pic Divergent is concerned. With the movie still shooting in Chicago, the company is now putting Jane Got A Gun writer Brian Duffield on the job of adapting follow up tome Insurgent.

As the first book chronicles Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) and the strange society she grows up in, the second will (spoiler alert!) see her situation devolve into war between the various factions that represent humanity in Veronica Roth’s books.

Neil Burger is currently working on the first movie from Evan Daugherty and Vanessa Taylor’s script, aiming for a March 21 release date over here next year. Duffield will kick off writing the sequel now, hoping that his latest gig will be less troubled than Jane

Manly Man
Hello Manly Man. I read the books. They may not be Shakespeare and the movies may be trash but I wonder what bothers you more: that it is a franchise gear for girls (no brothers ruling the world) or that it may be a bad movie. You guys have your fun with all those stupid manly movies in which women are objectified, murdered and victimized. Let young girls have fun too. Movies are not only for manly macho men. And by the way Katniss is not a girly girl that fell for a dark stranger neither is Cla More

city of bones
no offense like ive never read the books and they are probably one damn good read but based on what ive seen about the movie it looks like nothing more than a cheap cash in on the fanbase that are also favourable of twilight. after seiing twilight and hunger games the last thing the cinema needs is another shit book to movie adaption of a girly girl who falls in love with a dark and mysterious dude who's sum how always involved in sum thing pertaining to the supernatural. this year we also had d More
