Two New Star Trek Into Darkness Stills
Benedict Cumberbatch vs. Blue Steel

20 March 2013  |  Written by Ali Plumb  |  Source: Paramount

J.J. Abrams' upcoming return to the world of Spock and Kirk is out in early May, which means the promotional machine is setting up to hit warp speed. Marvel, then, at these two new stills from Star Trek Into Darkness, sourced from the movie's new app.

As you'd expect from a director as secretive as J.J., the snaps don't reveal all that much plot-wise, but it's still a reassuring feeling to see Quinto, Pine and new boy Cumberbatch (who plays the villain, John Harrison) doing their best concerned faces / Magnum / Joey acting.

As for Star Trek Into Darkness's storyline, we find the crew of the Enterprise finding their feet as a cohesive unit and trying to sort out planetary problems while not dying (or letting too much water into the spaceship when it’s at the bottom of an ocean). But when Earth is hit with a series of mysterious attacks caused by one Mr. Harrison, Kirk and company must stop a threat from within the Federation itself.

With Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho and Zoe Saldana also back, Star Trek Into Darkness will hit our screens on May 9. Check out Empire’s huge 2013 preview for more on the movie - and look out for huge in-depth coverage next issue.
