Fresh Despicable Me 2 Trailer
Lipstick taser!

20 March 2013  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Apple

After a teaser trailer, shorts and a poster that seemed to be more about the squat yellow Minions than anything else, the new Despicable Me 2 trailer finally offers some concrete plot details.

The Despicable Me-quel (we’re coining that here and now) finds Steve Carell’s super villain Gru more settled in his primary job as father to orphans Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier) and Agnes (Elsie Fisher). But then Lucy Wild (Kristen Wiig) of the Anti-Villain League shows up, kidnaps Gru (utilising some nifty spy gadgets) and takes him to the League’s undersea HQ. There, the organization’s big boss – voiced by Steve Coogan – announces that a much worse threat has risen and they need our bumbling bad guy’s help to take him down.

Hopefully the new ‘toon will put a fresh, funny spin on what sounds like an old genre trope, with plenty of Minion madness to keep fans happy until the little yellow guys get their own film next year.

Despicable Me 2 arrives on June 28, before heading across the pond to the US on July 3.
