We can’t really agree with Dr McCoy (Karl Urban) at the start of this new, short promo for Star Trek Into Darkness. We kind of love this. And the fresh footage just makes the movie seem that much more fun. Check it out.
Ramping up everything that seemed to work about the first film, the new Trek appears to offer some great action scenes, plenty of chances for the crew to bond and Bruce Greenwood being disapproving as Admiral Pike. There’s even a nod to the skydiving scene from the original.
Oh, and yes, even some moments with that Cumberbatch fellow who some of you seem to like.
This time around, we find the crew of the Enterprise finding their feet as a cohesive unit and trying to sort out planetary problems while not dying (or letting too much water into the spaceship when it’s set at the bottom of an ocean). But when Earth is hit with a series of mysterious attacks, Kirk and co must stop a threat from within the Federation itself.
With JJ Abrams once more directing and Urban, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho and Zoe Saldana back as the crew, Star Trek Into Darkness will warp on to our screens on May 9. Check outEmpire’s huge 2013 preview for more on the movie - and look out for huge in-depth coverage next issue.
Did I see a little nod to the Millenium Falcon in there? More

Really can't wait. I really expect them to pull a Miranda Tate with "John Harrison". That name is just too boring for a major villain, got to be a ruse.
Also, "There’s even a nod to the skydiving scene from the original."
"The original" James? Really? I don't remember Kirk skydiving in The Motion Picture. Don't you mean "the last film"? And it's a bit too soon to start getting nostalgic for that one.

I like that this movie is really going to focus on Kirk’s struggle to become a leader. I can’t wait to see him face off against John Harrison, and during the wait, I have been watching everything Star Trek with Blockbuster @Home from DISH. Updating my queue is a quick process which is really great with my busy work schedule at DISH. I also love that I can stream movies to my tablet; my train home is much more entertaining when I get to spend it watching Star Trek. Watching these movi More
