Halle Berry Back As X-Men's Storm
For Days Of Future Past

05 March 2013  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Bryan Singer

X-Men: The Last Stand

It’s been on the cards for a while now, and Deadline sort of broke the news minutes before, but Twitter-loving director Bryan Singer has hit the social media service to once more announce some casting for X-Men: Days Of Future Past. The latest recruit? Why, that would be Halle Berry.

She’ll be back as Ororo Munroe, one of the protective teachers at Professor Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters, who also happens to be weather-wrangling mutant Storm, a major member of the X-Men team.

This is just the latest returning actor from the original X-trilogy, and she’ll be reuniting with Hugh Jackman, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. They’re joining First Class veterans James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, with new faces Peter Dinklage and Omar Sy also aboard.

As you may know by now, Days Of Future Past will see the X-Men battling in two time periods to avert a dark future where they’re hunted down and killed or flung into internment camps. Though James McAvoy has said he’s not sure if the characters will meet their older/younger versions, there will be plenty of time twisting to be found.

Singer starts shooting the film in April for a July 18, 2014 release date. Berry will next be seen in kidnap thriller The Call, which hits US cinemas on March 15. Hope she’s ready for a torrent of X-questions at her next press junket…

Great news..
I have missed the original X team since 2006 and its great that they are getting as many of them back as possible for this new movie.First Class was entertaining by itself but its cast of X tweens had none of the charisma of the stars of the original trilogy. There were also way too many plot holes and inconsistencies with the previous films for it to work as a prequel.Hopefully, this new movie will set things right. Basically Xmen 4!
I really liked Xmen First Class and I would have thought that a 'proper' sequel would be popular but this, to me, comes across as Bryan Singer wanting to make another of his Xmen films (and I know he didn't direct Last Stand) putting the old cast in first place and relegating the First Class bunch to the bottom of the pile! Don't get me wrong i like Jackman as Wolverine and McKellen as Magneto, but they had their run, let the new guys have a proper sequel. More
