Damon Wayans Jr Says Let's Be Cops
Jake Johnson along for the ride

05 March 2013  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Deadline

Damon Wayans Jr

Though he has turned up in small roles in movies produced by various family members (as well as work in The Other Guys and a voice for Marmaduke), Damon Wayans Jr is now winning starring roles. He’s just signed on to head Let’s Be Cops alongside Jake Johnson.

The Girl Next Door’s Luke Greenfield is handling directing chores, working from a script he wrote with Nick Thomas for 20th Century Fox.

Let’s Be Cops focuses on two best pals (Wayans Jr and Johnson) who decide that it might be fun to pretend to be cops. But – and you can probably see where this is going – they end up dealing with a real mobster and things get dangerous in a hurry.

Wayans Jr and Johnson have form together: the former was part of the original pilot for sitcom New Girl, but had to be replaced when his other show, Happy Endings, was picked up. Now they’ll get to share the screen properly, but for a brain twist, we suggest also casting Lamorne Morris, who replaced Wayans on New Girl.

There’s no word on when the cameras will crank on this one, but we do know Simon Kinberg is producing it. Wayans Jr is currently filming Someone Marry Barry, and Johnson is still at work on New Girl, though he’ll also crop up in big screen comedy dramas The Pretty One and Drinking Buddies.

RE: Damon Wayans Jr Says Let's Be Cops
If the film has his "various family members" involved in it's production it will no doubt be a steaming pile of shit (as usual). Who keeps giving these clowns money to make films? More

..they turn out to be really good cops and actually become cops for real.... More
