Harrison Ford On For Anchorman 2
Han Solo meets Ron Burgundy

05 March 2013  |  Written by James White  |  Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Morning Glory

Harrison Ford as a possibility for Star Wars is one thing. But here comes something that could be even more fun: Adam McKay has long talked about gathering a great cast for Anchorman: The Legend Continues, but we didn’t expect a cinematic icon. Yet it’s true: Ford is on board!

Following his grumpy turn as a news anchor in Morning Glory, Ford has signed on to the Anchorman sequel to play another legendary newscaster who will match wits with Will Ferrell’s Ron Burgundy.

As McKay told us himself, the film finds Ron, Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), Champ Kind (David Koechner) and Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) headed to New York as the ‘70s dawn and cable news becomes big.

Also aboard so far are James Marsden, Kristen Wiig, Dylan Baker, Meagan Good and, if the rumours are true, John C Reilly. With a script once again by Ferrell and McKay, the film kicks off shooting this very week and hits our screens on December 20.

We spoke to Steve Carell about his new comedy The Incredible Burt Wonderstone this past weekend and you’ll be able to hear his latest thoughts about the Anchorman sequel in a future video on the site...

L: Bobby TwoTimes Everyone knows that Ford went on to have the biggest career post Star Wars of all the main leads, but when you actually look back at eer post-Crusade in '88done nothing but garbage - so it's about time he decided to get involved in something popular. know we all have our own opinions but I don't really see how that statement makes sense. Patriot Games, The Fugitive, Clear and Present Danger are great films. Air Force One is enjoyable nonsense. And most films w More

i'm biased
i have no off switch when it comes to Ford. For me he's the star of my childhood. I hate all the swipes people have been making of late - but I guess I understand some of it, even I couldn't handle Random Hearts, or that shipwreck movie with Anne Heche! But I really liked Crystal Skull (so did Empire as far as I recall - 4 stars wasn't it? and now your fine magazine rips into it whenever possible) and I was 7 when Star Wars came out and 11 when I saw Raiders the first time. I'm not gonna bang More

RE: Harrison Ford On For Anchorman 2
I don't know why the news of Ford being in a comedy is such a surprise. I know man isn't exactly a barrel of laughs off screen, but he do comedy. He was funny in the Indiana Jones flicks, and he was a lot of fun to watch in Morning Glory. More

I'd rather see Ford having a laugh in a silly comedy than any of the dull, generic thrillers he's done over the last decade. More

Little Bit Worried!
While I love me a bit of polyester-clad manliness I really hope they don't overdo it with the co-stars. More

Wow!
Recently I've been thinking that Ford is just a grumpy old fart now, but damn, this looks interesting. Here's to hoping my Ford-slagging is proven wrong! More
