Tina Fey Says This Is Where I Leave You
She's in talks for the Jason Bateman pic

01 March 2013  |  Written by James White  |  Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Tina Fey

Tina Fey is clearly feeling the tug of home. Or at least films focusing on the idea of dysfunctional families. She’s already circling one possible project with The Nest, but that’s not enough for her now she doesn’t have the schedule-consuming 30 Rock to worry about. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that she’s in talks to join Jason Bateman comedy This Is Where I Leave You.

Adapted by Jonathan Tropper from his book, the film finds Bateman as a man whose father dies. His last request is that his four grown children – who have issues with each other – spend seven days together under one roof for the first time in a decade. Fey would be one of Bateman’s sisters.

Shawn Levy, who directed Fey in Date Night, is wrangling this one and the casting is coming in dribs and drabs. Kathryn Hahn seems likely to be playing Bateman’s sister-in-law, and Ari Graynor, Isla Fisher, Zoe Saldana and Mary Elizabeth Winstead have all read for roles. If we had our druthers, we’d cast ‘em all, but we don’t have our druthers and now we’re starting to wonder where our druthers went. Maybe they’re still at that petrol station we stopped at in Brighton.

Fey is currently busy on The Muppets… Again! and will next be seen in Admission, which is out in the US on March 22 but doesn’t have a UK date yet. Bateman will be dealing with a dysfunctional family he’s well used to when Arrested Development returns on Netflix this May.
