DiCaprio Driven To The Road Home
Scott Cooper's directing

21 February 2013  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Deadline

Leonardo DiCaprio, Scott Cooper

We’re back in still-to-be-published-book-bought-by-film-studio-for-a-star territory (which has one of the longest road signs in history, trivia fans!) Warner Bros. has snapped up the rights to Michael Armour’s upcoming book The Road Home, and is developing it as a starring vehicle for Leonardo DiCaprio.

Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper is aboard to adapt the book and direct any eventual film. Armour’s depression-era tale concerns Creek, a war veteran rancher who is asked to investigate the bloody murder of a local man.

The police have quietly swept the case under the nearest rug, and when Creek sticks his nose in, he discovers more than dust and some errant coins – there’s a scandal brewing around the crime.

DiCaprio will produce via his Appian Way company and has yet to decide if he’ll end up in the lead. Warners and the actor have been down this road before, most recently with Brad Ingelsby’s script Out Of The Furnace, which was originally designated for DiCaprio to star and Ridley Scott to direct. Cooper took it over and ended up making it elsewhere with Christian Bale and Woody Harrelson starring. It’ll hit cinemas on November 29.

As for DiCaprio, he’s next set to appear in Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby (due May 17) and Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf Of Wall Street, which doesn’t have a set release date yet.

Longest place name on earth, complete with roadsign... just saying ;) Sounds interesting, getting a little bit of a Jack Reacher vibe from what it says here, I like it. More
